My Story/ About

tldesignz is a kind of couture design company that was establised in 2005, founded me, butt'ns. Coming from what started as a custom clothing option, tldesignz today offers various tailored lifestlye sneakers, accessories, art, and clothing. Onetime is the clothing spin off of tldesignz, and was started in 2007.

It all began when I taught myself how to hand paint shirts for myself using Tulip Fabric Dimensional. This skill seeded an idea to turn the whole thing into a ploy to fund the modding of my car, graphically. I soon started selling my shirts loitered with japanese kanji and the STL logos at weekend flea markets in my local neighborhood. One night in my mom's basement I started sketching ideas for a brand name and logo. Loaded with love for my home city, I came up with 'The Lou Designz', Lou being short for StLouis. To not become so easily written off as local it was shortened to tldesignz.

In 2007, a few of my co-workers at Nike began suggesting that I learn how to paint shoes. They gave me references and the names other known artist who did the same: SBTG and Methanphibian. Amazed at the trade, I began researching it further and eventually learned how to do it myself. For practice I set up an exchange agreement with a flea market vendor who give me shoes. I would paint them and give them back (of course the shoes werent authentic to their said company *cough* fake *cough cough* so they're not featured on the site.)

In the summer of 2008, I started designing tee shirts. I didn't want the name for them to be completely tied into the tailored shoes so I came up with the name 'Onetime' (why? no clue); however, the name embodies that of a story told. A message, story, and meaning for every design. Today I spend my time customizing shoes and doing day to day things for tldesignz and Onetime. Expect more tees, full size runs for custom shoe designs, and events.

Upkeep

Keeping a tee from shrinking Having a tee shirt line many people ask me about washing, drying, and tee shrinkage. Well how bout this bit of knowledge, washing is fine (with like colors: whites w/ whites, colors w/ colors, etc.) as far as drying--dont. At least dont in the dryer. What you do is go buy some of those plastic hangers and hang dry them after theyve been washed. Wire hangers might leave a stain. I hang mine up in the bathroom on the shower curtain rod. After it's dry, you might want to iron it-you could, but I dont. I typically hang all my tees and the wrinkles situate themselves. So there you have it, again, this is just what works for me. I havent shrunk a tee shirt since '03. Bet that.
